About Walk & Talk Therapy

Experience Therapy in a New Way

At Peaceful Strides, we offer a unique approach to mental health support through walking therapy. Serving individuals in Edmonton and the surrounding areas, our services cater to both teens and adults.

Imagine discussing your thoughts and feelings while strolling through serene parks or along scenic pathways. The rhythmic motion of walking can help ease tension and foster a sense of openness, allowing for deeper conversations. In this relaxed atmosphere, you can find clarity and perspective that may be more challenging to achieve in a conventional office setting.

What is Walking Therapy?

Walking therapy, also known as, walk and talk therapy, is a form of therapy that takes place outside in parks, on trails, or benches in nature. The therapist walks side by side while you set the pace. This allows us to take sessions outside while enjoying sun and soothing sights & sounds.

Benefits of Walk & Talk Therapy

Walking therapy combines the benefits of physical activity with the therapeutic process. By engaging in a walk-and-talk format, clients often find it easier to express themselves, leading to a more comfortable and peaceful therapeutic experience.

Benefits include:

  • Enhanced Comfort: The natural environment can help reduce anxiety and foster open communication.
  • Physical Activity: Incorporating movement into therapy promotes overall well-being and can enhance mental clarity.
  • Connection with Nature: Being outdoors can improve mood and stimulate positive thoughts.

I like to think of walk and talk therapy as nourishing your mind, body, and soul all at once.

Hybrid Services

I offer personalized sessions designed to meet your needs, whether in person or online. My in-person sessions can be held outdoors—weather permitting—utilizing the serene walking paths near my office, located conveniently in downtown and the river valley.

For those who prefer a more traditional setting, my cozy office provides a comfortable atmosphere to explore your thoughts and feelings. Whether you choose to walk or sit, my goal is to create a space that feels right for you. Let’s connect and find the best approach for your journey.

What to Expect

If you believe walking therapy may be the right approach for you, please reach out to me. Once we connect, we can schedule an initial appointment, which can take place either in my office or online. During this session, we will discuss and choose a suitable destination for our walking therapy sessions.

If you prefer not to walk or if the weather is not suitable for outdoor therapy, we can always meet in my office. Your comfort is my priority, and I want to ensure you have a supportive environment for our discussions.

Please be aware that walk-and-talk therapy conducted in public settings may involve certain confidentiality limitations. This means there is a possibility that others may overhear parts of our conversation. I will make every effort to protect your confidentiality and will discuss any concerns you may have, as well as your preferred approach to managing potential confidentiality risks.
